The Morris Inquiry

The Morris Inquiry is an independent inquiry established by the Metropolitan Police Authority to consider professional standards and employment matters in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The Members of the Inquiry are:

  • Sir William Morris OJ (Chair of the Inquiry)
  • Sir Anthony Burden OStJ
  • Anesta Weekes QC.

The Inquiry was launched in January 2004 and spent six months gathering evidence. It received over 1400 documents and heard oral evidence from 109 people over 31 days. It also conducted a survey of all MPS personnel. The Inquiry would like to thank everyone who contributed to its work.

This is a summary of the Inquiry’s report and includes its recommendations.
